1967 - Gripsholm Castle

Yet another multi-coloured stamp with a historical motif

This beautiful definitive stamp, Gripsholm Castle, 7 kr, blue/red, arrived in April 1967 as the third high denomination in a row during that spring. The others were 4.50 kr red Uppsala Cathedral in March and the 3.70 kr violet Lion Fortress in February. Three new stamps in a row, but it did not stop there, more five new types of definitive stamps were issued and also a new kind of slot-machine booklet. 1967 was crazy. The rate for domestic parcels, 7 - 10 kg, was raised in the beginning of 1967 and this stamp covered that rate. Two stamps covered a domestic parcel up to 15 kg. The artist was Sven Erik Skawenius and it was engraved by Arne Wallhorn.
